At last, the release of McCartney III has been confirmed for the 18th December 2020.

You'll be able to purchase one of the numerous configurations, that is, if they're not already sold out as the 333 edition on the morning of pre sale. The release will be an expensive one if you're a McCartney or coloured vinyl obsessive fan but are there more releases in the pipeline?

Though not confirmed, up next could be George Harrison's 1970 epic 'All Things Must Pass. The original 3LP release arrived on the 30th November 1970 priced at a rather expensive £4:19s:6d, it peaked at No.4 in the UK charts.

It was first released on Compact Disc in 1987 while a 3LP and deluxe 2CD edition appeared on the 22nd January 2001. The 2CD set contained 5 bonus tracks including the fabulous outtake 'I Live For You', an updated version of 1970's No.1 single now called 'My Sweet Lord' (2000) and alternate versions of Beware Of Darkness, Let It Down and What is Life.

While these releases are fine 'All Things Must Pass' deserves the big 50th Anniversary issue, there's plenty of material available including a full session of George playing the songs he'd written for the album to producer Phil Spector on acoustic guitar. Riveting stuff  that deserves to be heard by a wider audience.

Flying under the radar at the moment is the Beatles 1970 Fan Club LP 'From Then To You' originally released on 18th December 1970.

Between 1963-69 the Beatles had sent out free Christmas flexi singles to Fan Club members but in 1970 with no new Beatles Christmas material forthcoming from the band they issued a compilation of the previous singles free to fans. In 2017 the singles were released on coloured vinyl as a box set, will the LP follow with a 50th anniversary release?

Finally, now the confirmation of McCartney 111 has been announced, that leaves the question of whether there'll be a 50th Anniversary release of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band LP.  It originally appeared, wait for it, on the 10th December 1970, that would mean any 50th anniversary edition of the Plastic Ono Band LP would fall on the same date as McCartney 111!

Following on from the Imagine book published by Thames & Hudson Ltd, the same company publishes the Plastic Ono Band on the 29th October 2020.

Rumour has it that a 6CD/2xBlu Ray, Plastic Ono Band box set is ready to go and it would make sense to keep the momentum going following the success of the Gimme Some Truth releases where John Lennon achieved a No.1 album in the physical copy UK chart.

But that 11th December date looks ominous, it could be an interesting one, over to you Paul & Yoko...
