The Beatles: Paul McCartney wowed Hollywood director before he was famous
Callum Crumlish/www.express.co.uk
THE BEATLES have been famous for more than 60 years, but before they were all household names Sir Paul McCartney joined his girlfriend at the time on the set of a Hollywood film and made an impression on the film's director, Roger Corman.
In 1964 The Beatles had conquered Liverpool and had set their eyes on London and the rest of the world. Before they made their transition to playing in America, the Fab Four were growing their popularity throughout the UK and Europe. The day before they played their first gig in London Paul McCartney visited the set of a Vincent Price film.

The reason why DJ ‘Murray the K’ claimed to be the fifth Beatle
Drew Wardle/faroutmagazine.co.uk
The title of ‘The Fifth Beatle’ has been passed along to a few people who have either adopted it by osmosis or by fighting tooth and nail to lay claim to the highly-esteemed reputation of being associated as a Beatle. Before The Beatles solidified their official cast of members, they had other members of the band. As the Silver Beatles, Stuart Sutcliffe, the band’s initial bass player who ended up dying from a brain haemorrhage after a brawl in Hamburg, has been called the fifth Beatle in the past. Pete Best, another fifth Beatle candidate, the band’s original drummer from 1960-1962, did not impress George Martin while in the studio and was eventually replaced by Ringo Starr.

London music studio that rejected The Beatles but released music from David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac

The studio was a huge rival to the famous Abbey Road Studios
London has always been a city full of music. With stars such as David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, The Rolling Stones, and the Clash it’s safe to say the city has defined the landscape of modern music.
However, one long studio made the ultimate blunder when it turned down a little band called The Beatles.

We've hosted the biggest names in entertainment and even created a few right here in Cov.
Many of us think we're at the height of fashion, then we see a photo of ourselves from years past and cringe.
This week's Memory Lane supplement in Tuesday's Coventry Telegraph looks back at the way we looked, the trends we followed and youth culture in the city through the decades. In this, Coventry's year as City of Culture, it's important to note we've always bristled with culture in Coventry from our medieval architecture, musical heritage and proud motoring heritage.

The Beatles’ final-ever concert at Candlestick Park, San Francisco, 1966

By 1966, as Beatlemania was whipped up beyond a frenzy, The Beatles knew that their touring days were coming to an end as the dangers of being John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr seemed closer than ever.
The band, who had just endured a harrowing string of tour dates in Asia, a tour which had turned nasty in the Philippines after a handshake mishap, were forced to quickly put their issues behind them and hit the road again for a U.S. tour the following month. “We’re going to have a couple of weeks to recuperate before we go and get beaten up by the Americans,” George Harrison joked as John Lennon caused national chaos by claiming that The Beatles were bigger than Jesus.

The Beatles: John Lennon and Ringo Starr missed George Harrison’s ‘chaotic’ wedding
Callum Crumlish/www.express.co.uk
THE BEATLES star George Harrison married his first wife, Pattie Boyd, on February 21, 1966 at the Epsom registry office - but it didn't go exactly to plan. In 1966 The Beatles were incredibly famous but had not hit their stride yet. The quartet had already released albums such as Help!, Rubber Soul and Revolver, but in the years to come the Fab Four would release The White Album, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road. It is because of their fame that the band’s manager, Brian Epstein, asked Harrison to forgo a large wedding to his bride-to-be, Boyd.
