HELLO & WELCOME TO BEATLES NOW
John Lennon's 80th birthday on the 9th October should have been a world wide celebration and it still will be, but it will also be muted as tribute concerts have had to be cancelled because of the ongoing coronavirus panedemic.
John's 80th birthday will be recognised by a number of new releases under the title 'Gimme Some Truth' containing up to 36 newly remixed tracks by Sean Lennon.
It's available in a number of formats CD (19 tracks), 2CD (36 tacks), 2LP (19 tracks), 4LP (36 tracks), BOX SET 2CD (36 tracks), & Blu Ray.featuring all 36 tracks in hi-res stereo 96/24 PCM, new 5.1 surround mixes and Dolby Atmos.
On the same day there's an interesting compilation album 'JEM Records Celebrates John Lennon' a tribute by the labels 'power pop. artists including The Midnight Callers, The Weeklings, The Grip Weeds and The Gold Needles.
Some John Lennon fans have been unhappy about the release of yet another John Lennon compilation but there's the as yet unconfirmed possibility that every official John Lennon album will be remixed by Paul Hicks who did such a wonderful remix of the Instant Karma Record Store Day release.
There's also the unconfirmed possibility that John's Plastic Ono Band album will be given the 50th anniversary treatment around its original release date of 11th December 1970 hopefully containing Yoko's Plastic Ono Band album as a bonus!
The new 'John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band' book will be published on the 29th October by Thames & Hudson. The same company published the Imagine John Yoko book that was accompanied by the release of the Imagine Ultimate Collection.
The Plastic Ono Band album was released 11th December 1970 so maybe there could be a 50th anniversary edition in your Christmas stocking after all.
