Bill Harry the founder of the Merseybeat newspaper and school friend of John Lennon & Stuart Sutcliffe has written or co-written around thirty books of varying quality.
'Beatles People' published in 1997 begins with Bill Harry's speciality, a 20 page introduction on the Birth of Merseybeat then a very short, just over a page, of the Chronology of the Beatles before Ringo Starr joined them in August 1962.
The Encyclopedia of Beatles People contains approximately 500 entries including a fair number of fellow Merseybeat musicians to give readers a flavour of the scene where the Beatles grew & developed musically.
While it's an entertaining read that can be used for reference unfortunately it doesn't deliver because of it's limit to 500 entries and therefore portrays an incomplete representation of the Merseybeat scene and people associated with the Beatles.
Maybe there's room here for Bill to add a further two books to his contribution to the Beatles in print.
