in 1982, I remember seeing a local TV documentary called 'Beatlemania' . It was set mostly around the Liverpool Beatles Convention & US Beatles Fest.
One of the highlights was fans recalling meeting the Beatles in the 60's. As they recalled their personal stories, their faces lit up and you could see them transported back to the day they met a Beatle.
Dean Johnson, a musician from the Wirral, Sara Phillips and Sorena Torz, decided to create a Facebook page requesting fans to share their stories of meeting a Beatle, either before or after the break up.
The response resulted in 70 personal stories complete with nearly 40 unpublished photographs.
They range from meeting Paul McCartney everyday outside a recording studio for two months, George Harrison on Mathew Street in 1996, playing with John Lennon on his classic Imagine LP, the Beatles making a promo film on the Mersey Ferry, supporting the Beatles and even knocking on Ringo Starr's door after being directed there by Lulu and Maurice Gibb!
The stories are always entertaining and most of the photographs are very personal. It makes 'The Beatles and Me' an entertaining read for any Beatles fan whether you've met them or not!
